The Portuguese Experience Up Close: NTG Plovdiv Teachers at the Heart of Europe through Erasmus+!

Erasmus+ mobility in Coimbra: a journey through good practices and new educational visions

From November 1 to 7, 2025, teachers from the National Trade High School – Plovdiv participated in an educational mobility in Coimbra, Portugal, within the Erasmus+ Program, Key Action 1 – Educational Mobility for individuals, VET sector.

The project theme – “National Consortium for improving VET quality in the fields of business administration, economics and commerce” – led the Bulgarian participants on an enriching journey through European models, new teaching approaches, and inspiring professional exchange.

Europe is not far away – it begins with partnership!

The host organization, Mondego Mobility, provided professional content, excellent working conditions, cultural experiences, and warm hospitality. On the second day, the teachers – Deputy Principal Mariana Filipova and teachers Kalina Bobeva, Boris Biserov, and Nikolay Nikolov – were welcomed with a tour of the historic city and a visit to the emblematic University of Coimbra.

The following days included intensive observation and practical visits such as:

  • Presentation of the Portuguese VET system with a focus on dual training;
  • Meetings with a vocational school and a university where theory and practice intertwine;
  • Visit to a partner company participating in dual training, observing real internship organization;
  • Demonstrations of virtual business environments and simulation learning platforms.

Practice that inspires!

Discussions focused on practical solutions for balancing theory and practice, competence validation, and innovative learning strategies. The Mondego team shared methods for digitalization, non-formal learning, and student engagement.

The mobility concluded with certification, marking the emotional end of a week rich in learning, collaboration, and inspiration.

We returned more confident, more connected, more European.

This experience widened perspectives, encouraged ideas for innovation, and strengthened partnerships for future Erasmus+ cooperation.

And Coimbra? No longer just a destination, but part of our professional journey and inspiration for the future.
